AWO Forum Indonesia Planning

The LEP Indonesia recently ran a two-day meeting of Forum AWO, a collaboration between importers, GAPUSPINDO, exporters and the LEP, to discuss non-compliance policy, supply chain issue and plans for next year. To date, AWO forums have been delivered in four major cities, providing training and discussion on animal welfare, supply chains and halal slaughter. The current LEP project will finish in December, but exporters have agreed to use co-funding to support Forum AWO in 2020, with the LEP continuing to provide technical expertise. The meeting acknowledged the need for standardised systems and more training for auditors conducting ESCAS audits, and a draft standard operating procedure (SOP) for non-compliance policy will be presented by GAPUSPINDO during this week’s exporter-importer meeting in Jakarta. The Forum will present its new structure and plans for the future at the LEP Expo & Conference on 7-8 April 2020.
